The mainstream misconstrued is that all bodyguards are 7-foot beefcakes dressed in all black attire. That isn’t the case at all. Being a Bodyguard is an exciting career suitable for both men and women that come from a variety of backgrounds. It can also be very financially rewarding in more ways than one, But how much do bodyguards really get paid? Let’s find out.

Regardless of your professional background, from military to retail assistant you will need to hold an SIA License to work as a bodyguard. An SIA License is a badge you can provide to employers which officially recognises that you have completed sufficient close protection training.

Employers will ask about your qualifications and experience for the role. Much like when employers ask which University you have attended, Recruiters from a Security Firm will ask which company you took your close protection course with, They ask this because some close protection courses provide more in-depth training than others. They want the best & you can’t blame them when recruiting for a role that requires intelligence and eagle eyes.

Close Protection Officer Salaries

Once you have been assessed, it’s time to talk about salary. This is where we dig into the numbers you want to know. The amount in which bodyguards/close protection officers are paid is based on experience and the danger level of the job in which you will be deployed as with risk comes reward. This means there are various levels in which you can be paid. Let’s take a look at some real examples below.

Bodyguards 0-3 Years Experience:

Bodyguards with 0-3 years of professional experience can expect to realistically earn anywhere from £125-£200 Per Day. However, this daily rate can increase depending on the urgency for recruitment and the danger levels of the deployment.

Bodyguards 3+ Years Experience:

Bodyguards with 3+ years of professional experience can expect to realistically earn anywhere from £250-£350 Per Day. However, this daily rate can increase depending on the urgency for recruitment and the danger levels of the deployment.

Advice:

It’s important to negotiate your salary when seeking employment, particularly for your first role within the security industry after successfully completing your close protection course.
